Comfort for Gondwana's guests enhanced even further
Accommodation facilities have been extended and arranged even more conveniently in all four nature reserves of the Gondwana Desert Collection in southern Namibia.

At Kalahari Anib Lodge the number of rooms for individual travellers has been increased from 9 to 19. These chalets are set slightly apart from the accommodation facilities for tour groups (36 rooms); they also have a private veranda and spoil the visitor with uninterrupted views of the vast steppe scenery of the Kalahari. In addition, a separate swimming pool has been built for individual guests.
Location: Gondwana Kalahari Park, 10,000 ha, 30 km northeast of Mariental, an ideal first or last stopover on a roundtrip from Windhoek through the south. Main attractions: Kalahari (the world’s largest continuous stretch of sand), feeding site for scavenging birds and three ornithological world records – the largest bird, the heaviest flying bird and the bird which builds the largest nests in trees.
After gentle renovation, 20 guest chalets of Cañon Lodge offer even more convenience. The bathrooms are now equipped with doors and thatched roofs and the showers are tiled; there is also more space for toiletries. The rooms have been refurbished with new tables, chairs and a large mirror. In addition, the sealing was further improved and the windows have been fitted with mosquito gauze. More lights were added to the natural stone paths among the wildly romantic granite boulders while large numbers on the chalets’ doors ensure that everyone finds their way. Since the extension of Cañon Village, 2 km away, the lodge is mainly used for individual guests. The remaining 10 chalets are also due for renovation.

Location: Gondwana Cañon Park, 112,000 ha, 20 km east of the main lookout point at the Fish River Canyon. Main attractions: Fish River Canyon (the second largest canyon on earth), clusters of quiver trees.

Klein-Aus Vista’s Desert Horse Inn has been extended to 24 tastefully decorated double rooms with generously proportioned en-suite bathrooms. Owing to its location directly at the entrance to Gondwana Sperrgebiet Rand Park (2 km west of Aus) and next to the restaurant, it is ideally suited for groups and the less adventurous individual traveller. The architectural style is reminiscent of colonial times; the exciting past of the area comes to life through historical pictures in the rooms and at the reception.
As before, Eagle's Nest Lodge
(a 15-minute drive from the reception & restaurant) is just the place for the more courageous individual guest – with vistas of the endless expanse of the Namib Desert.

Location: Gondwana Sperrgebiet Rand Park, 51,000 ha, 2 km west of Aus. Main attractions: Wild Horses of the Namib, desert in bloom ('Namibia’s Namaqualand', July - September), dune belt and camel thorn tree grove at the seasonal Koichab River, Aus Information Centre (2 km), the former diamond settlement of Kolmanskuppe (90 km) and the harbour town of Lüderitz (120 km).
Due to overwhelming demand Namib Desert Lodge has been extended yet again – to 55 double rooms for guests. Natural cooling of the rooms was again emphasised during construction work; this is achieved by ventilation and insulation of the roof section and by placing windows in opposite walls. Each room has a small private veranda. A second, larger swimming pool was built for guests to take a refreshing dip after a hot day. A reprocessing plant reduces overall water consumption at the lodge. The treated water (maximum capacity: 25 m³ - which corresponds to the daily consumption of 200 people) is used for irrigating the lodge’s fruit trees and gardens.
